How long does the inspection take?

The length of time it takes the inspector to complete an inspection depends on the size and general condition of the property.  Generally speaking it takes about an hour per 1,000 square foot of space.  A 2,500 square foot home for example will usually take about two and a half hours to inspect.  Older homes tend to take a little longer than newer ones because they are typically in worse condition.  A 2,500 square foot home built in 1960, for example, might take three hours to inspect while a new construction home the same size might be completed in two hours.  Optional inspections, such as swimming pools and septic systems, will also add to the length of time required
